Hello again! Today I’m going to be talking about various sources and how I ended up dealing with stress.

First things first, stress. Now this can be applied to anything, stress about classes, stress about language, even stress about the various paperwork you’ll need to fill out. Breathe, take a step back, and make a list. Make a list of everything you need to do. For some odd reason, writing it down makes it seem doable. It’s only x amount of things. I can do x today and x tomorrow.

There are many people you can ask for help! Most international programs will have some sort of mentor program. SIGN UP FOR THESE! My mentor was so helpful! He walked me through signing up for classes, how to apply for my visa, and even various places to meet other students in my program.

Another thing you could do is ask your fellow classmates what they’ve done. Nine chances out of ten they’ll either be just as lost as you or will have already done this! Perhaps you might even make a friend because the both of you are just lost. The biggest piece of advice I can give is just reach out and ask!

I was sort of shy when speaking in German at first, I didn’t want to mess up and someone laugh at my German. I was so stressed out about being perfect I practically couldn’t speak. However,  I actually experienced the opposite. People were so happy that I was trying and didn’t assume that they would know English.
