Angers, France: Week 1

on

During my first week in Angers, I managed to successfully set up everything at my foyer and even meet some new people during the process. When I arrived late in September, I was a little skeptical and nervous about my ability to speak and comprehend French. Thankfully, living at the foyer has been what I needed to break out of my comfort zone and test my abilities. The “animatrices” at the foyer were so excited to have me there because they had never had a student from the US before. Upon hearing this I was a bit nervous, because I knew I wouldn’t have that comfort of being able to speak in English to someone a majority of my time here. Fortunately, it didn’t take me long to build some new friendships and become more comfortable speaking in French.

With the help of some new friends, I got to know the city pretty soon and see how the night life is in Angers. Overall the highlight of my time in Angers up to now would have to be getting to know people who come from all over the world.
