London During the Jubilee

on

It was the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Now you are probably thinking what is the Jubilee? The Jubilee is the celebration of the Queen’s Birthday Celebration while being queen. It was her 70th year as Queen this year since she is 96 years old. How impressive is that! The celebration is for the entire weekend and it started on Thursday. This means I didn’t have my internship or class on Thursday and Friday of this week! I really just wanted to go to one thing which was the Parade! My flatmates and I decided to wake up around 5:30 in the morning. We all got matching London T-shirts and Queen Elizabeth face cut-out mask! Everyone thought it was hilarious. We wanted to be able to see the royal family. So we got up and got ready for the day. We stood for around 3 hours to be able to get a great spot to see the parade. As we left we realized that they even had to shut down the park since the park was full. No one could even get in the park anymore! Once the parade started it was so beautiful! There were men riding on horses playing instruments and even more important we got to see some of the Royal Family. We saw a ton of soldiers that were dressed up in their red uniforms and tall hats! We even got a picture with one. We got to see Kate, Camilla, and the kids! Sadly, we didn’t get to see the Queen as we hoped she would be in the parade. We did get to see her on the big screen though! It was such a great experience. It is kind of crazy to think that we were there for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. There won’t be another in a lot of decades!
