A Hotty Toddy Reunion in Amsterdam

on

I broke my promise. Sorry, y’all. I really mean to update sooner.

HOWEVER, I have stories to make up for it. The last month has been extremely exciting in terms of friends and adventures.

If you know what a global ambassador is, I was one at Ole Miss until I came to Edinburgh for my own adventure. If you don’t know what it is, it basically required me to spend a lot of time with our exchange students (I know- my dream job).
Now that that has been settled, I’ll tell you why that little definition was important. Some of the people I became friends with were some of the greatest people I’ve ever met, and I have missed them terribly since they left. AND I GOT TO SEE TWO OF THEM AGAIN JUST A FEW WEEKS AGO. I saw both my Norwegian darling, Eline, and my Dutch sweetheart, Charlotte. <3 I’ll be honest. I almost had a small meltdown in the Amsterdam airport when I saw them.

Of course, we just had to take a picture in front of the I Amsterdam sign. It’s like a must do on every “when in Amsterdam” list.

It was far too hard to get the entire thing in the picture.

No adventure is complete without seeing what that place is famous for (and no, I am not talking about the Red Light District). We did the Heineken Experience!

Aren't we just the most adorable friends?

The Heineken experience is hardcore. They take you through a history lesson, show you all the historical artifacts like old bottle designs and awards won, let you see the brewery, and they let you taste test! As if that’s not enough, at one point they make you get on a simulated ride and “become the Heineken.” Definitely an interesting tour.

Yes- if you assumed that I got excited over this light up wall made of Heineken bottles, you are so right.

Would you believe me if I said the tour got even better? No? Well, you should! They teach you how to draft Heineken!! I’ll admit.. The guy teaching how was part of the main reason why it was so fun, but that doesn’t really matter. 😉

Amsterdam has so many amazing things to see, and I think the canal cruise we did was probably at the top of my list. It was amazing being able to eat dinner while cruising along in our little boat and watching age old architecture pass us by. Chills.

Again, chills.

The city is filled with more than just jaw dropping history. Charlotte took us to one of the most incredible restaurants I’ve ever seen. The food was good, but the atmosphere- one of kind.

Amsterdam, you really are a beautiful place. 559597_10152587576063565_128476921149101895_n

On our last day together (for now), we decided to take it easy. We rode vespas! Definitely beat just regular biking. We vespa-d to lunch, to a field hockey game, and just around the town in general. I rode with Eline. If I could add videos on here, I would have proof that her driving almost killed me (Not a joke- we almost hit Charlotte while she was parked).

Despite my near death experience, this was one of the most fun things I have ever done.

I’ll be back one day. I can never resist another adventure.

To good times and explorations.

I miss my friends already. Come to Edinburgh soon <3

Now that we’ve ticked off Amsterdam, I’d say it’s time to go to Norway. Wouldn’t you agree?

Cheerio, y’all. (Expect another update in about 15 minutes)
