SUMMER IN SALERNO: my first post!

Hey y’all! It’s my first post here all the way from Salerno, Italy. From the 8 hour layover in Atlanta, Georgia, to carrying my 50 pound suitcase up 6 endless flights of stairs, I can now say that it was all well worth it! I’ll tell you first hand that the view from my bedroom balcony overlooking the entire city certainly makes up for the 30 grueling hours of traveling it took to get here.

Before I start writing posts about all my Italian travels I want to introduce myself and explain why I decided to study abroad in the first place! My name is Kasey Gusella, and I’m an upcoming sophomore at the University of Mississippi. I’m 18 years old, and am taking part in the Ole Miss Study Abroad in Salerno, Italy for 4 weeks, taking Italian language courses at the school here in Salerno. I decided that this program was something that I was interested in after taking Italian 101 and 102 over the course of my freshman year. After realizing that I needed to experience first hand what makes Italy so special, I hopped on a plane and headed over here as fast as I could to the bottom of why I find this place so fascinating! I’ve been here for 1 week already, and I cannot tell you how happy I was that this program was actually able to take place after the craziness of the last year and especially the past couple months. Over the course of the coming weeks I plan to document my travels here in Italy and hopefully can give y’all a glimpse into what it means to study abroad in Salerno!

I’ll be here for the next 3 weeks and I cannot wait to share all of my adventures with y’all! Stay tuned for lots of pizza, travels, and gelato reviews to come!

Ciao a tutti!

Couldn’t end this post without showing the view from my balcony. Cannot believe I get to wake up to this every. single. day. for the next 3 weeks!
