The past week one of the largest holidays in Spain was celebrated called Saint Joan. Saint Joan celebrates the patron saint of Catalonia, and the holiday is viewed as the start of summer. It is basically like a new years eve celebration, but even bigger. The sky was lit up with fireworks in every single direction and the fireworks don’t stop all night long. It was so amazing to witness this holiday which bares so much importance for the people in Barcelona, and I had never even heard of it! Almost the whole city also gets Friday off, so that was a welcome surprise too! It is so interesting to think that one of the biggest holidays here is something which I had never even heard of in the states. This holiday also marked exactly one month until I return to the states. I can’t believe how fast time has gone by and that I already have less than a month left. I plan on fully taking advantage of more of the Spanish culture while I can, which leads me to my next adventure; watching the running of the bulls in Pamplona! I will not be partaking in the actual event, but I can’t wait to see this tradition which Spain is so famous for!
