Bonjour Paris!

After a 13 hour bus ride from Dortmund, I arrived in Paris! I listened to beginner French podcasts on the way there so I could try to understand something while I was there. Luckily I learned how to ask for directions because I needed that as soon as I got off the bus.

The only problem was that I didn’t understand the answers!!!

After walking for miles, I finally found where I was going! It was actually pretty confusing and apparently FreeWiFi isn’t actually free! It turns out that’s the name of a service that costs 29€ per month so that was pretty disappointing.

One of the first things I saw in Paris was the Mona Lisa!!! I don’t know if y’all know this, but she’s actually really small and almost impossible to see. There are at least two people guarding her at all times! On top of that, there are about a million people trying to take a picture of her or a selfie with her. My friend was able to get a picture of her, though.

She’s a lot smaller than I expected! Less than 2ft x 2ft and less than 20lbs including the frame!

After walking in the museum for hours and hours, it was time to get some gelato! It is a lot more expensive in Paris than here in Dortmund, but I was able to try what I would consider the best gelato in Europe!

The best gelato in Europe!

I got to enjoy some time enjoying the Seine! This river appears a lot in German literature so I was really excited to see if it lived up to the hype and it did!

I was lucky enough to have perfect weather the whole time I was there!

The architecture in Paris was incredibly beautiful. It wasn’t the Lyceum, but it was pretty cool!

Yes I carry this flag everywhere – here it is at Notre Dame!

And the finale,

The Eiffel Tower

The ride back only took 11 hours, which was nice! I got back just an hour before my German class started on Monday. Only speaking English and broken French over the weekend made it a bit difficult, but I managed and it was totally worth it!

If you want to spend a week in Paris, let me know because I might be ready for round two. 🙂

See you then,
