Lluvia Lluvia Lluvia!

¡Hola!

Since the last time I wrote, I have been relaxing in Córdoba, getting to know the city a bit more, or at least as much as I can since it has been raining almost nonstop. The past three days have been the first sunny days we have had in a while.

We are transitioning into fall now, which is weird since all of my friends back home are enjoying the spring. With fall comes cold weather, gray skies, and apparently rain for 15 days straight.

Despite the rain, we have found ways to entertain ourselves (besides taking numerous siestas).

We have met quite a few expats here in Córdoba, including two that went to university at ECU, which for you geography experts out there is located in my hometown of Greenville, NC. Which is crazy!! This proves just how small the world can be.

Alta Gracia

Last Friday, we took a little daytime adventure to a little villa outside of the city called Alta Gracia. It’s a sleepy, yet beautiful little place. It’s home to a UNESCO world heritage sight, the Jesuit Monastery of Córdoba.

We also got to visit the childhood home of Ernesto “Che” Guevara, the revolutionary hero of Cuba. This was the most interesting part of the day for me, because I got to study in Cuba last summer for a month and learned all about Che’s role in shaping the country into how it is today.

Casa de Ernesto

It wasn’t much of a museum, there were very few items and there were mostly just pictures of his exploits in South America, but it was still fascinating to me. This was a way for me to see how two countries I love are linked together.

Che

I’ve got big plans for the coming month. I’m planning on taking a trip to Mendoza (like Riley did a couple of weeks ago, check out her post!) and during our “fall break” I am planning on traveling to the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires and am possibly hopping over to  Uruguay (I may be meeting up with a fellow rebel or two!)
